MARION COUNTY FAIR/WJBD RADIO TALENT CONTEST 2010 CONTEST RULES & INFORMATION

1.           Any Marion County Resident or anyone who attends a Marion County School is eligible to
participate in the contest as an individual performer or as a member of a group act. Past
first place winners of the contest are ineligible to compete in their same division.

2.                Two Divisions:    Junior Division (14 years and under as of July 31, 2010)
Senior Division (15 years to and including 21 years as of July 31, 2010)

3.                Group entries will be placed according to the oldest members and all members must
meet eligibility requirements.

4.                 Preliminary competition will be Saturday,  June 19, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Fair Office,
Marion County Fairgrounds, Salem, Illinois. All contestants must be present.

5.                Dress rehearsal will be Saturday, July 31, 2010, beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the Salem Theatre, 119 South Broadway, Salem, IL.

6.                Final competition will begin at 8:00 PM, on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Salem Theatre, 119 South Broadway, Salem, IL.

7.                Prizes: Winners in Junior & Senior Divisions will receive a Trophy and $100.00 for First
Place, $75.00 for second and $50.00 for third

8.                Time Limit: Four minutes for each performance (one second over four minutes will result in disqualification).  In addition, there is a set-up time limit of three minutes.  Time starts when the act starts entertaining.

9.                Judges will be impartial, independent from the competition committee.  The panel of judges decisions will be final.

10.             The stage area is 20 feet deep and 30 feet wide and is wood. A sound system, mikes and piano will be provided. When using cassette or CD for accompaniment, only the song the contestant is using on CD/cassette, they cannot have like talent on them, i.e. vocal, tap dancing, any like instrument and so forth.  This is carefully monitored. 

11.             There is no age limit on accompanist. All members of an act including accompaniment must be present and participate in the preliminary competition

12.              The first place winners in both the Junior and Senior divisions will advance to the state finals in January 2011 at the IAAF State Convention in Springfield at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center..

13.              The Marion County Fair Talent Competition Committee and The Marion County Fair Board shall not be liable for any injuries or lost, stolen or damaged materials during the course of the talent competition.
